India reports two cases of Covid variant Omicron in Karnatak

Total two cases of Omircron detected in Karnataka so far through genome sequencing, said Dr Balram Bhargava, DG, Indian Council of Medical Research here. Both cases have been detected in Karnataka. They have traveled from South Africa.
He said that we dont need to be panic, but awareness is absolutely essential. The positive persons contacts have been identified and are under monitoring. 


“All Omicron related cases are found to have mild symptoms so far. No sever symptoms have been noticed in Omicron infection in all such cases in the country and abroad. WHO has said that its emerging evidence is being studied”, said Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Union Health Ministry.
Luv Agrawal said that the protocol is being followed.The Covid appropriate behavior is the need of the hour. However, he added that no severe symptoms of the Omicron Varient of COVID19 reported so far. He said that around 29 countries have reported 373 cases of Omicron Variant so far.

Adressing a press conference on the ongoing Covid situation, Agrawal said that the surge in cases is being observed across the world on an overall basis. Europe has reported 70 per cent of the cases in the world in last one week. In the week ending 28 Nov, around 2.75 Lakh new cases & over 31,000 deaths reported in European region. He said that in comparison to this, Southeast Asian region that includes India and 11 other countries, reported only 1.2 Lakh cases in last one week – only 3.1 per cent of the cases of the world. A decrease in cases is being reported in the Southeast Asian region.
