DMA holds awareness session on Medico-Legal Challenges faced by doctors

Delhi Medical Association (DMA) in collaboration with the Central and West District Legal Services Authorities, under the aegis of NALSA and DSLSA, on Wednesday held an awareness cum sensitization session on Medico-Legal Challenges faced by doctors in connection with POCSO Act, 2012 and the POSH Act, 2013.
Justice Harjeet Singh Jaspal addressed the gathering and provided an overview of key issues related to the POCSO Act, 2012, and the POSH Act, 2013. The session ended with an interactive question-and-answer round, where participants shared their doubts and got useful insights.
Dr. Girisy Tyagi, DMA President, said on the occassion that the doctors should take care of mandatory reporting, maintain confidentiality, take consent and proper documents in cases related to the POCSO Act. With regard to the POSH Act, any institution with more than 10 employees, must constitute an Internal Complaint Committee to investigate such cases.
Dr. Ajay Lekhi, Programme Coordiantor, said that the programme aimed to enhance awareness among the medical fraternity about legal obligations and challenges associated with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, ensuring informed and lawful medical practice.
Dr. Satish Lamba, Hony. State Secretary, said DMA will continue to work towards empowering doctors with legal knowledge and ensuring ethical medical care in alignment with the law.
