India sees 6.8% rise at 1.72 Lakh Covid cases, death surges to 1008

India on Thursday reported a rise of 6.8 per cent in daily Covid cases at 1,72,433 in the last 24 hrs. In the same time span, 1008 Covid deaths have also been reported across the country, taking the death toll to 4,98,983, said union health ministry on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the active caseload has reported a marginal decline at 15,33,921 which constitute 3.67 per cent of the country’s total Positive Cases.

The recovery of 2,59,107 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 3,97,70,414. Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 95.41 per cent.

Also in the same period, a total of 15,69,449 tests were conducted across the country. India has so far conducted over 73.41 crore cumulative tests.

Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate currently stands at 12.98 per cent while daily positivity rate has risen to 10.99 per cent.

With the administration of over 55 lakhs vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid inoculation coverage has reached 167.87 crore as of Thursday morning.

More than 11.07 Cr balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTs to be administered, according to the health ministry as of on Thursday morning.
