Health minister urges enquiry against Secretary

Expressing his displeasure, Delhi health minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on Thursday wrote to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena about the Secretary (Health) allegedly misinforming and misleading the minister about the availability of medicines and consumables in the city hospital run by state govt.
Mr Bharadwaj urged the LG to direct a time bound enquiry into non availability of medicines and consumables in hospitals.
Highlighting the report of a young boy patient being turned away from Delhi Govt Hospital because of unavailability of cotton, Mr Bharadwaj said it is apparent that either the senior officers (H&FW) are unaware of the ground situation or are not deliberately resolving this imminent crisis.
Earlier, city minister had directed the Chief Secretary and Secretary (Health) to ensure supply of medicines and consumables in hospitals. Mr Bharadwaj claimed that ‘he was deliberately misinformed about availability of medicines & consumables in hospitals’.
