Philips, a global leader in health technology, today announced that it has partnered with Star Imaging, Pune to launch a first-of-its-kind MRI Training School in India. This school will provide international standard training on MRI technologies across 17 sub-specialties. Renowned physician, Dr. Ashish Atre, Chief Radiologist, Star Imaging and Research Center, has designed the curriculum for this program in association with Philips. The first batch of this program was recently concluded at Star Imaging’s center in Pune.

The two-week residential program, designed to provide advanced theoretical knowledge and practical training, focuses on organ-based sub-specialty reporting and hands-on training. It also involves application training, clinical case study discussions, scanning, and workflow observation across multiple anatomies such as Head and Neck, Musculoskeletal, Body, Neuro, etc. This program is open to radiologists who wish to upskill themselves with international standard training on MR specialties. By leveraging Philips’ cutting-edge technologies and Star Imaging’s clinical expertise, they will gain valuable insights and hands-on experience in the field.

Our partnership with Star Imaging to provide international standard of MR training in India is reflective of Philips’ commitment to empower Indian clinicians with the latest technological advancements,” said Brajesh Singh, Imaging Leader, Philips Indian Subcontinent.  “Through this initiative, we will upskill clinicians to excel in organ-based reporting while ensuring accurate diagnosis and improved patient outcomes. The Indian healthcare market is moving towards super-specialization owing to the high disease burden. This training initiative represents Philips’ dedication to enhancing clinical expertise and enabling clinicians to extract the best out of the technology at their disposal,” he added.

The MRI Training School represents an unparalleled learning experience for both budding and experienced radiologists. The course curriculum at the training center equates to international standards and is a big step towards continuously upskilling healthcare professionals. The program aims to cover every MR specialty in depth to provide new perspectives and discuss clinical-radiological correlations,” said Dr. Ashish Atre, Chief Radiologist, Star Imaging and Research Center.

This initiative is part of Philips’ endeavor to continuously enhance the skills and expertise of healthcare professionals in India. In July 2023, Philips announced its partnership with Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences (NICS) to set-up a first-of-its-kind and the only dedicated Centre of Excellence for Echo training in the country. Known as the ELiTE program, the course offers extensive hands-on training, led by national faculties using Philips ultrasound systems. ELiTE is accredited by Karnataka Medical Council and endorsed by the Indian Academy of Echocardiography, Karnataka.
