NEET PG Exam: Doctors’ association register disapproval for two-shifts paper

There is a lot of resentment among doctors and medical students across the country over the decision of the National Examination Board (NBE) to conduct the NEET PG exam in two shifts. The Doctors Association as well as the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of medical colleges across the country have opposed this decision. They say that the examination should be held in a single shift so that fairness is maintained and there is no possibility of any kind of disturbance or rigging.
FAIMA raises serious questions
Dr. Rohan Krishnan, founder of All India Medical Association (FEMA), questioned the decision to conduct the examination in two shifts and said that this could increase the chances of malpractice. He said that the examination should be conducted on the same day and in the same shift so that all the candidates get equal opportunity.
Dr. Rohan also said that a fee of Rs 3500 has been charged from the candidates for this examination, despite this the examination is being conducted in two different shifts. He termed it unfair and said that this could affect the transparency of the examination. Raising this issue, Dr. Krishnan has also expressed his concern through tweet.
There is also opposition to conducting the NEET PG exam in two shifts because the question papers of the exam will be different, which may lead to a difference in the difficulty level. For this reason, the exam should be conducted in only one shift. Dr. Rohan said that the students were already dissatisfied with the normalization process, and now conducting the exam in two shifts may create more problems.
Candidates aspiring for the exam had also filed a petition in the Supreme Court on this issue, but the court rejected it. In its decision, the court had said to conduct the exam smoothly at the state quota and national level.
