FORDA representatives visit health minsters, NEET PG cut-off under consideration

Amid the ongoing issues for reducing the cut off marks for NEET PG 2023, the Federation of Resident Doctors Association of India have meet the union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya and have been assured to consider their proposals.

The FORDA has also written a letter to the health ministry over reducing the the cut-off score for the NEET PG 2023 examination. “In light of this issue, we humbly request your kind attention to consider the possibility of decreasing the cut-off score for the NEET PG 2023 examination. This adjustment could have several significant advantages”, the FORDA said in the letter.

The FORDA said that by lowering the cut-off, we can ensure that a larger number of eligible candidates are given the opportunity to fill these vacant seats, thereby preventing a wastage of valuable resources and infrastructure.

FORDA General Secretary Dr Sarvesh Pandey said that recently there have been protests regarding the recruitment of only doctors as faculty members in pre and paraclinical subjects in major government institutes.

“Lowering the cut-off would facilitate the filling of these seats and potentially alleviate this concern in the long run. There is considerable uncertainty surrounding the future of NEET PG, with the possibility that this might be the last NEET PG examination ever conducted. Lowering the cut-off would provide a lifeline to numerous medical students who are in a state of flux due to these uncertainties”, said Dr Pandey.

He added that the ministry has assured them that the matter of reducing the marks will be considered.
