AIIMS, RML hospital with 50 ambulances to deal with medical emergencies for G20 summit

Ahead of the G-20 summit, the Union Health ministry has designated two hospitals – AIIMS and RML Hospital with high-end medical facilities to deal with any medical emergency. An emergency and ICU facility will be made available at the venue of the G20 events to provide immediate medical care for the dignitaries.

A source further said that nearly 50 ambulances will be kept ready with adequate medical staff for the medical emergencies. The ambulances will be stationed at hotels where attending dignitaries will stay and at the key venue of G20 Summit to deal with any medical emergency.

The source added that a temporary ICU unit with all medical facilities will be made near the Bharat Mandapam. “The team of doctors from AIIMS and RML hospitals will be deployed at the venue and a green corridor will be made to deal with any medical emergencies”, the source said.

The union health minister Mansukh Mandavia is also expected to visit the venue to take stock of the preparation on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the security establishment has made an elaborate security plan with the deployment of over 450 quick response teams and PCR vans and fire-fighting machinery in and around the airport, 23 designated hotels, Pragati Maidan, Rajghat and along the routes to be taken by the dignitaries and delegates.

Around 400 police personnel specially trained in soft skills will be deployed at prominent tourist hubs, airport, railway stations and ISBTs to help delegates and other visitors. A total of seven disaster management teams will remain stationed at strategic locations including four hotels, Pragati Maidan, Rajghat and IARI-PUSA. The security arrangements will be further augmented at these venues through deployment of QRTs, ambulances and fire-fighting personnel besides National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams.

As many as 11 QRTs, 24 ambulances and three fire tenders will be deployed at Pragati Maidan where the newly built international convention centre will be the venue of the summit. In addition to the fire tenders, two additional units comprising a sky lift with hydraulic platform and a fire-fighting robot will be stationed at the summit venue throughout the duration of the event.
