AIIMS starts centralized sample collection, report distribution

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi, on Friday, announced to start the facilities of centralized sample collection and the report distribution.

Earlier, the patients had to visit academic areas, including the PC Teaching Block of certain departments for the collection of body fluid samples and report retrieval that not only uses to cause inconveniences to the patients but also their attendants, resulting into the overcrowding in academic and office spaces.

Addressing these concerns, Prof. M. Srinivas, Director, AIIMS, has directed that all patient samples be collected within the respective Outpatient Departments (OPDs). “This pivotal step aims to eliminate the need for patients and their attendants to traverse to other areas for sample submission or analysis”, said the hospital.

In line with this initiative, AIIMS has set a target for the establishment of shared sample collection and report distribution rooms within the respective OPDs. This operational enhancement is slated to be completed by 31st August 2023.

The responsibility to execute this transformation lies with the Chiefs of all Centers, Medical Superintendent, and the Faculty In charge of the New RAK OPD.

“As of 1st September 2023, AIIMS will ensure that all sample and report collection activities are seamlessly integrated within the OPDs, streamlining the process for both patients and staff”, said the hospital.
