Orthopaedic Doyen Dr Kaushal achieves new milestone, hip replacement in just 2-inch of skin incision

Veteran Orthopaedic surgeon of India Dr Kaushal Kant Mishra has added one more feather to his cap and set new parameters in hip replacement. Dr Kaushal Kant Mishra,  Director, Bone and joint institute, at Fortis Escorts has achieved a new milestone in “minimally invasive hip replacement surgery.

92 years old patient Mr. Jot Singh with severe co morbid condition( like CAD-EF-25%, Coronary blockage>90%, Hypertension,Diabetes)  has undergone hip  replacement(Hemiarthroplasty)  by Dr. Kaushal Kant Mishra in just 2-inch of  skin incision instead of 5-8inch incision in traditional  hip surgery.

This small incision surgery not only benefits the patient by less blood loss,less infection,less complications, faster recovery , cosmetic appeal and above all boosting confidence of patient  but also proves the technical excellence of surgeon globally. ‘We are in process of indexing on Guinness book of world records, Limka book of world records and confirmation obtained by Academy of world records USA,’ said Dr. Kaushal Kant.

The surgery was done February 3 and the patient was discharged on February 6. There has been no complication even after the patient has been discharged. The time taken for the surgery was 50 minutes.

Prior to this, Dr. Kaushal Kant Mishra sucessfully did the same surgery of 107 years old patient  which was nominated in guinness book of world records for oldest patient hemiarthroplasty globally, now oldest one in India.  Recently he performed fastest hip Replacement in just 18 minutes which is under process for indexing in record books. Patient has discharged from hospital in stable and walking condition.
