The Supreme Court on Tuesday lashed out at Patanjali Ayurveda and asked “Is your apology as big as your advertisements?’. Stressing on the protection of all consumer groups including children, babies, and women during the hearing of the misleading ads case against Patanjali Ayurveda, the bench said, “When you issue an apology, it does not mean that we have to see it by a microscope”.
While hearing the case, the bench asked that whether the size of the apology was of the same size as its advertisements or not. The court also noted that the ‘Union Government must wake up to this’ and take strong action on the matter.
Patanjali Ayurveda issued an apology on Tuesday while stating that they would not commit any such mistake in the future. This came ahead of the Supreme Court’s hearing over the misleading ads case against the medicine company.
Baba Ramdev and Patanjali MD Acharya Balkrishna have been asked to be personally present before the Court for Tuesday’s hearing.
A bench comprising of Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah is currently hearing the matter at the court.
