With 28 deaths in last 24 hrs, India continues to report rise in Covid cases

India on Friday registered a total 11,692 fresh Covid infections in the last 24 hrs, a considerable rise against cases detected on previous day. The active cases have increased to 66,170, which comprise 0.15 per cent of the total infections.

Meanwhile, a total of 28 new deaths have also been reported in the country in the same time span, leading the total death toll to 5,31,258. While four deaths were reported from Uttar Pradesh, three deaths reported from Haryana, Delhi and Maharashtra, and two deaths from Bihar and Chhattisgarh, and nine deaths were reconciled by Kerala.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 5.09 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 5.33 per cent. The case fatality rate in the country stands at 1.18 per cent.

With a total of 10,780 Covid recoveries in the last 24 hours, the number of people who have recuperated from the disease rose 4,42,72,256 so far. The national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.67 per cent.

Also in the same period, a total of 2,29,739 tests were conducted across the country, increasing the overall tally to over 92.50 crore. A total of 220.66 crore vaccine doses have been administered under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive so far including 3647 doses in the last 24 hrs.
