Mandaviya underlines early diagnosis to eliminate fatty liver and hepatitis

Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday emphasised the early diagnosis and the prompt management to eliminate the fatty liver and hepatitis on the occasion of World Hepatitis Day. The day is observed to encourage international efforts of public for a call of action against hepatitis. 

This year the theme is “One life, One liver” stresses the importance of a healthy liver to lead a healthy and meaningful life.

A liver screening camp was held in the parliament Annexe for the members of parliament and the staff of parliament house for four days during which a total of 425 individuals were screened which included 70 members of Parliament. Another attraction was setting up of food counters under Daawat-e-Jigar, an initiative by ILBS to promote millet based diet in the food. 

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Mandaviya lauded the effort of Dr. Sarin and ILBS in the direction of achieving the sustainable development goal which aims to end viral hepatitis by 2030. 

Underlining that one in five fatty liver related deaths occur in the world is from India, Dr Sarin stressed on the importance of healthy diet and lifestyle choices for preventing and treating fatty liver diseases.
