Mandaviya refutes allegations of reducing NEET PG Cut Off for daughter

After the National Medical Commission (NMC) reduced the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2023 qualifying percentile to zero across all categories last week, controversy erupted on social media that the initiative was taken by NMC to get the health minister’s daughter passed in the exam.

“the recommendation for reduction in qualifying percentile for postgraduate courses for 2023 (NEET PG 2023) has been considered by the Ministry. Approval of competent authority is hereby conveyed for reduction of qualifying percentile for NEET PG 2023 to ‘Zero’ across all categories,” the NMC had said in a statement.

Tagging the NMC Order, a social media user claimed on X, “Health Minister’s daughter Disha Mandaviya had secured only 160 marks in the PG Exam while the qualifying score is 291”. That’s why the cut off was reduced to Zero across all categories, the user claimed.

After this shocking revelation, many users claimed and questioned the intention of NMC behind reducing the cut off marks. However, a source with the health ministry said that his daughter already got 160 marks, so what was the need to reduce the cut off to zero then?

In a news channel program, Health Minister Mandaviya refuted all the allegations leveled against him and termed the claim as baseless. He said, “ First of all, she has not registered herself for the admission. So all claims are baseless”.

Further, he added, “Every year so many seats go vacant for Pre-Para, so there was a demand that it should be reduced for those who want to take admission. This is a very positive move.
