In a bizarre incident, over 20 MBBS students of at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida have been beaten up by the guards of the campus. A doctor said that a group of guards armed with rods and guns entered the hostel premises forcefully on Sunday and broke the gates of the rooms in where residents doctors were residing.
As the resident doctors were unaware of any such incidents, the doctor said, they were dragged out of their rooms and mercilessly beaten by rods and sticks. More than 20+ students sustained serious injuries and many more sustained minor injuries . All the vehicles of the students including the car of the hostel warden was vandalised.
Urging UP Police to take action against the culprits, the Federation Of Resident Doctor Association (FORDA) said, “What is happening at GIMS noida MBBS students mercilessly beaten inside hostel premises, cars vandalized, room doors broken. Students have sustained fatal injuries. Security guards and students of GBU (Gautam Buddha University) are alleged perpetrators”.
Terming the incident as dark day, the Federation of All Indian Medical Association (FAIMA) said, “MBBS students residing in the college hostel at #GIMS GREATER NOIDA were brutally beaten up by the security guards acting under the direct orders of the GBU security officer (SO)!We demand strict action against culprits”.
FORDA National General Secretary Dr Sarvesh Pandey said we urge you all to help us raise our voices against this extreme brutality and inhuman behaviour. How can we ensure the safety of others when our own colleagues are themselves unsafe in a college hostel itself.
