Facing Vertigo & Balancing Disorder? Get all treatment under one roof at Lajpat Nagar

India has 250 million balance disorder patients and has turned into a silent epidemic

Despite dizziness and balance-related complaints being among the most common reasons for healthcare visits among older adults globally, vertigo and balance disorders continue to remain significantly under-recognised, underdiagnosed and undertreated in India.

Up to 25 crore Indians may be living with vestibular and balance disorders, conditions that are complex, treatable, and routinely missed — because across the entire country, fewer than 80 specialised clinics exist to diagnose and manage them.

To address this growing healthcare gap, Pacific OneHealth has launched the Centre of Excellence for Vertigo & Balance Disorders at its Lajpat Nagar facility in New Delhi under the leadership of Dr. Anirban Biswas, one of India’s most respected Neurotologists and widely regarded as the pioneer of Vertigo and Balance Disorder management in the country.

Dr. Anirban Biswas, Principal Director, Institute of Neurotology and Centre of Excellence for Vertigo & Balance Disorders, Pacific OneHealth, said, “Vertigo is not a disease; it is a symptom that signals dysfunction within the body’s balance system. Unfortunately, thousands of patients continue to suffer for years because dizziness is often dismissed as stress, weakness, ageing or a neurological problem. Balance disorders involve the inner ear, brain, vision, nerves, muscles and even psychological health. Accurate diagnosis is the biggest missing link in India today. Dedicated balance disorder centres equipped with specialised diagnostics and rehabilitation can significantly improve outcomes and restore confidence, mobility and quality of life for patients.”

The numbers tell a story that medicine has been slow to hear. Vertigo and balance disorders affect 40 per cent of adults in India, with prevalence climbing sharply with age — striking one in three people over 60, and one in two over 80. Beyond the personal toll, the public health consequences are grave: dizziness has been shown to make older adults over 60 per cent more likely to fall,3 and falls remain the leading cause of accidental death in people above 65.3

Dr. Swadeep Srivastava, Co-Founder & President, Pacific OneHealth, asserted, “Healthcare systems often focus on visible diseases, while conditions that quietly erode mobility, independence and confidence receive far less attention. Vertigo and balance disorders are among those overlooked challenges. Through this Centre of Excellence and Vertigo Awareness Week, our objective is not only to provide specialised care but also to create a national conversation around a health issue that affects millions yet remains largely invisible. We believe awareness, timely diagnosis and access to specialised care can transform patient outcomes.”

Pacific OneHealth is India’s emerging chain of Micro Hospitals, committed to making high-quality, specialist-led healthcare accessible. Its Centre of Excellence for Vertigo & Balance Disorders at Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi, is India’s first of its kind — offering world-class neurotology, precision vestibular diagnostics, vestibular psychology, and rehabilitation physiotherapy under one roof.
