Dr. Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences at All India Institute of Medical Science, Delhi, will get a new chief from September 1. Dr. Jeewan Singh Tityal, Professor Opthalmology, will take over charge of Dr RP center as the chief at AIIMS. He will take over the charges of RP center chief in addition to his own existing responsibilities.
Dr.Titiyal holds the honour of being the first Indian to perform live surgery in ASCRS, USA. Over 400 publications, 30 funded research projects, and five books are to his credit.
AIIMS being the apex teaching institute, he has been actively involved in the training of more than 100 practising ophthalmologists and fellows from other institutes including armed forces hospitals over the years, as well as nearly 2000 of residents and undergraduate students. He has been regularly conducting instruction courses in global platforms across America, Europe and Asia-Pacific regions. Dr.Titiyal developed a keen academic interest during his medical training at AIIMS.
“Scientific advancements in the field of ophthalmology are intricately linked with technological advancements and cutting-edge diagnostics as well as equipment. Artificial intelligence will increasingly become integrated in diagnostic and therapeutic modalities”, says Dr.Titiyal who aims to establish RP Centre at the forefront by setting up a dedicated AI-based lab to explore its applications in ophthalmology.
