Dr. Abhishek Shankar becomes first Indian to get prestigious Distinguished Advocacy Award 2021

Well-known oncologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Lady Hardinge Medical College, Dr. Abhishek Shankar has received Distinguished Advocacy Award 2021. This award is being presented by the prestigious International Gynecological Cancer Society ( IGCS). It recognizes advocates and/or advocacy organizations that provide active, dedicated service to patients/survivors, families, and caregivers—on a local, regional, or international level—and persistently engage in the fight against gynecologic and other cancers.

IGCS honors up to three individuals and organizations from different regions of the world annually, and special consideration is given to those who collaborate beyond their community or country of residence. On this occasion, Dr. Abhishek Shankar writes, ‘I feel happy to be the First Indian to receive this award since its inception.

 This award will be presented during the inaugural function of the Annual Conference of IGCS on 1st  September 2021 in Rome, Italy.
