AIIMS makes international partnership for medical research and innovation

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UK-based University of Bolton Institute of Medicine, marking the start of an international partnership to work collaboratively across several areas including medical research, innovation, and education for undergraduate & postgraduate education.

This strategic collaboration brings together two esteemed institutions renowned for their commitment to excellence in medical training, research, and patient care. These partnerships will encompass various initiatives such as staff/student exchanges, educational conferences and collaborative degree programmes, aiming to enrich the medical education landscape in both countries.

Prof Iqbal Singh CBE, Pro Vice Chancellor (Medicine) & Chair of the Institute of Medicine said:
The University of Bolton Institute of Medicine is committed to establishing strong links with India and we are delighted to be working with AIIMS Delhi to drive forward transformative initiatives in medical education, healthcare delivery, and medical research, benefiting communities locally and globally.”

Prof Iqbal Singh CBE is an Indian-Origin doctor who has led a distinguished career in the UK as an academic and educational leader known for his contributions to higher education and improving patient care in the United Kingdom and beyond. Professor Singh’s work has been recognised with the award of a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire), an honour bestowed by the British monarchy for outstanding contributions to society.

Prof M Srinivas, Director of AIIMS Delhi said “Our partnership with the University of Bolton Institute of Medicine marks a significant milestone in our pursuit of excellence and highlighting India as a global leader in medical education, research and innovation. Health systems in India & the UK are complementary and have a lot to offer each other. Through collaborative working, we aim to explore new synergies to address global health challenges and share our expertise with the world.
