First live bariatric surgery using Apple Vision Pro done by Pristyn Care and Mohak Bariatrics

Pristyn Care, in collaboration with Mohak Bariatrics and Robotics, has performed the world’s first live bariatric surgery utilizing the Apple Vision Pro. This groundbreaking procedure, which included a sleeve gastric bypass and a Single Anastomosis Duodenal-Ileal (SADI) procedure, was performed by Dr. Mohit Bhandari, one of the foremost bariatric and robotic surgeons in the country. The use of Apple Vision Pro, an advanced augmented reality (AR) device, marked a significant milestone in medical technology and surgical precision. The surgery was conducted in 40 minutes on a 45-year-old patient, weighing 155kg and suffering from obstructive sleep apnea and high blood pressure.

The Apple Vision Pro provided a highly immersive and interactive 3D environment, allowing Dr. Bhandari and his team to visualize complex anatomical structures with unprecedented clarity. This technology facilitated enhanced precision in executing the sleeve gastric bypass and SADI procedure, minimizing risks and improving patient outcomes.

“At Pristyn Care, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of medical innovation to provide our patients with the highest standard of care. The successful integration of Apple Vision Pro into bariatric surgery marks a significant milestone in our journey towards revolutionising surgical procedures. We are proud to be at the forefront of this technological advancement, which promises to enhance precision, improve outcomes, and set new benchmarks in the healthcare industry,” said Dr Vaibhav Kapoor, Co-founder, Pristyn Care.

This historic surgery represents a significant advancement in bariatric care and the broader medical community. By leveraging Apple Vision Pro, Pristyn Care demonstrates the potential of augmented reality in enhancing surgical precision, reducing operative times, and improving recovery outcomes for patients.

“The successful use of Apple Vision Pro in these complex procedures opens up new possibilities in surgical precision and patient outcomes. We are proud to lead the way in integrating advanced AR technology into medical practice,” said Dr. Mohit Bhandari.
