Hip replacement Surgery
In a remarkable medical advancement, a 100-year-old male has undergone a successful hip replacement surgery at a city hospital. Following a fall at home, Mr. S. C. Kapur suffered a severe fracture that resulted in acute and unbearable pain. After being admitted to hospital, Dr. Rahul Sharma at Sawan Neelu Angel’s Hospital advised an immediate elective hip replacement, considering fracture type and accompanying health conditions.
“Elderly patients faced a lifetime of dependency and debilitating pain due to complications such as blood loss, infections, and immobility after fractures,” said Dr Sharma, adding that advancements in medical science have revolutionized the management of hip fractures. Within three days, Mr. Kapur was discharged from the hospital with promising improvements.
“A hip fracture in patients over 65 can be a complex and dangerous problem. The surgery, combined with a rigorous rehabilitation process, is critical—especially for our oldest patients. Every successful surgery not only restores mobility but also reinforces faith in modern medical advancements,” he said.
This groundbreaking procedure is a beacon of hope for the geriatric community, emphasizing the urgent need to enhance access to timely and effective orthopaedic services and rehabilitation facilities across India, said the hospital. As the aging population grows, such advanced interventions are poised to redefine care standards and support the independence and well-being of our senior citizens.
