Health experts say Navjot Singh Sidhu’s Claim on Wife’s Cancer misleading

A recent claim by Punjabi leader and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu regarding his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu’s stage-4 cancer has sparked widespread debate on social media. Sidhu stated that doctors had given his wife only a 3% chance of survival. He claimed that by consuming lemon water, raw turmeric, apple cider vinegar, neem leaves, and basil, his wife became completely cancer-free in just 40 days.

Expert Raises Objections

Reacting to the claim, renowned cancer specialist Dr. Pragya Shukla called it “misleading.” She stated:

“This is such a misleading statement! When will celebrities understand their responsibility towards society? It is true that diet plays a crucial role in preventing cancer and providing adequate nutrition during treatment, but presenting it in this way can mislead patients. Such dramatic results in such a short time are not possible.”

Concerns Surrounding Sidhu’s Claims

Healthcare experts emphasize that stage-4 cancer is a severe condition, and its treatment depends on various factors, such as the type of cancer, the patient’s health, and medical interventions. Solely relying on dietary changes cannot cure cancer entirely.

Dr. Shukla further stressed the importance of standard cancer treatments like chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery. “Patients should always consult qualified doctors and rely on scientifically backed approaches,” she said.

Reactions on Social Media

Sidhu’s claim has divided social media. While some hailed it as inspirational, others criticized it as false and irresponsible. Medical experts have urged people to avoid such misleading claims and always follow verified medical advice.
