FORDA meets health ministry over NEETMDS

The Federation of Resident Doctor Association (FORDA) members on Monday visited the health ministry and met the officials and conveyed the concern over critical matter concerning NEET MDS-2024 exam eligibility matter for around 8000 BDS interns from the 2018 batch of their admission.

Dr Survesh Pandey, FORDA General Secretary, said, “We have expressed our concern with senior officials of health ministry regarding the future of around eight thousands students of BDS. However, we are waiting for positive outcomes of the meeting”.

Due to the pandemic interns have faced a training break leading to extending their completion dates by varying periods, some finishing as late as by August, 24. Setting the eligibility criteria cut-off as March 31st unfairly debars them, it will jeopardize their careers.

“Interns lack the necessary clinical and theoretical knowledge to perform competitively. Postponing the exam will not only make many candidates eligible, but also provide them with time that is imperative for fair preparation”, said the FORDA.

The FORDA urged health ministry to consider rescheduling the NEET MDS-2024 exam by a reasonable amount of time such that issue of ineligibility is resolved and students get a fair shot at the exam preferably around the time of NEET PG 2024

“Consider extending the internship cutoff date for eligibility which will benefit around 8000 interns and conduct common counselling and admissions after the exam, synchronous with NEET PG”, said the FORDA, urging that these measures are crucial for the future of MDS aspirants, who are pivotal to your government’s vision of a ‘Swasthya Bharat”.
