Drug regulator identifies 131 fake medicines in March

The Central Drugs Laboratories have identified total 70 Drug Samples to be Not of Standard Quality (NSQ) for the month of March 2025.

Meanwhile, the State Drugs Testing Laboratories have identified 61 Drugs Samples as Not of Standard Quality (NSQ).

As per routine regulatory surveillance activity, the list of Not of Standard Quality (NSQ) and Spurious drugs are being displayed on CDSCO portal on monthly basis.

“Identification of drug samples as NSQ is done based on failure of the drug sample in one or the other specified quality parameters. The failure is specific to the drug products of the batch tested by the Govt”, said the CDSCO.

Further, one drug sample from West Bengal has been identified as spurious drug, which was manufactured by unauthorized manufacturer using brand name owned by other company for the month of March.

The CDSCO said the matter is under investigation and action will be taken as per Act & Rules.
