NMC asks for details of stipend paid to students, FORDA lauds initiative

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has asked all the medical colleges and health institutions to submit the details of the stipend that is being paid to undergraduate medical interns, postgraduate (PG) resident doctors, senior resident doctors, and PG students in super speciality courses in the academic year 2023-24. The Federation of Residents Doctors Association of India (FORDA) expressed hope that it lends some justice to #FMG candidates too.

Urging all medical colleges and health institutions to upload the stipend details on the website of the medical colleges, the NMC in a notification has said, “The details regarding the stipend are required to be updated every month (by the 5th of every month thereafter) as per Annexure 2 and at the end of each financial year the complete statement be submitted to NMC on E-mail ID:- stipend24-25@nmc.org.in“.

The FORDA in a post on X said, “When we first raised the issue of ‘fake’ stipends to some residents across the country, we were surprised by the number of #doctors who came forward and were a victim of this atrocity. Finally @NMC_IND intervenes and we are grateful to them & @MoHFW_INDIA for this constructive intervention. Hope it sets parity. And hope it lends some justice to #FMG candidates too”.
