As the Modi’s flagship health coverage programme Ayushman Bharat has come to complete the first year, many important events like revamp of medical packages, better patient care, two-day convention with state health ministers to chart out the course ahead have been planned for first anniversary celebrations. Prime Minister Modi is supposed to release a special postage stamp to celebrate the anniversary of Ayushman Bharat.
The nodal agency for implementation of Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PM-JAY) or Ayushman Bharat, National Health Authority is likely to unveil its new medical packages this week after a governing body meeting on Wednesday. With this the government would address a long-standing demand of hospitals and medical practitioners since the scheme was launched in September 2018.
Apart from re-evaluating the costing of packages, the revamped programme would impact patient care, especially in implants and cancer care. In the revamped package, specific drug regimen would decide the package. The much-awaited revamp of medical packages would be followed by a two-day convention “Gyan Sangam”on September 29 and 30.
